Do-mes-tic (defined)
(do-mes’tik) (adj. 1. Of the family or household. 2. Tame.)
Yes, most of us have owned them, whether intently or by chance.

They have found their way into our families and household and have become one with us.
Yes, most of us have laughed at their actions and shared with others our stories.
Yes, most of us have given up other things so they may be part of the family.
And, yes most of us have been in grief when they are no longer part of our family.

Domestic, an odd word to attach to a member of the family isn’t it?
So what is it about this domestic animal that we love so much? Yes, we all have abundant responses to that question.
But have you thought about how much they REALLY love us and what would happen to them if something in YOUR life occurred that had grave consequences regarding YOUR pets continued care ?

RESIDENT NEWS / PAST & PRESENT
SAMMIE AND BUDDY - THE DANES

Residents March 2007 - December 2007
Buddy and Sammie were received by Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue of Denver Colorado in December 2007. They are doing great with their new foster families. We recently received updates on both. Buddy's charm won over his Foster Family and now he is a permanent member of the family. Yeah Buddy! Sammie passed in December 2008 due to ongoing health complications. Her Foster Family was there with her. She was very loved by all who met her and represented her breed with high regard. Thanks to all @ Rocky Mountain Great Dane Rescue for what they do www.rmgreatdane.org.
MOXIE- Siberian Huskey

Resident March 2007 - February 23, 2008
Moxie came to Seven Blessings in March of '07. During that time, she became quite the howler...especially when it was feeding time. :) She also became a very good 'bird chaser' as she would become 'stealth' in her approach and attempt to catch them all as they perched upon her feeding bowl. Her presence here was a joy. Moxie lost her battle with her kidney desease and died in her sleep on February 23, 2008. She will be missed, but we know her time here had purpose. .
KYRA - Domestic Short Hair
FAVORITES:
Kyra's owner of 7 years died earlier this year. The owner, made sure however that Kyra would be taken care of after her death by planning ahead. The Hospice worker giving care to Kyra's owner made sure of that by contacting us and requesting Kyra be allowed to come and live out her life here. Although coming from a single 'cat' home, she has adjusted very well to the other cat residents that occupy our Cat-i-tat. Kyra is 10 years old.
BUDGET - German Shephard Mix

Resident April 2007 - May 14, 2008
Budget came to the Sanctuary in April of 2007 after being relinguished by her owners to the Rutherford County shelter . Her owners of several years moved to new location with a smaller yard and was unable to keep Budget....Go figure. Anyway, thanks to a lover of shephards, Budget was rescued from an early premature death and found her way here.Having her here was a true joy. As we downsized due to our relocation, Budget became a very close companion to Holly and me. She loved being right with us, but would always welcome her 'room' at night. Budget passed over the Rainbow Bridge on May14, 2008. We will miss her.

Clemi was not able to remain with her elderly owner due to Clemi's need for daily insulin, she is diabetic. She was sheduled to be ethunized when Seven Blessings was able to receive her into our family. As you can see, she has found and claimed her favorite sleeping area. She is a true joy to care for and has found her happiness again here at the Sanctuary. She requires insulin twice a day. She is 9 - 10 years old .
SEAMUS - American Cocker Spanlel

Resident March 2007 - December 2007
Seamus became a part of Best Friends Society (Kanab, Utah) 'Old Friends' program in December 2007. There he has joined others who give their love and affection to Senior Citizens who come and help out at Best Friends. We understand he is doing great @ his new job. Keep updated with Seamus and others by visiting www.bestfriends.org
BABY GIRL - American Cocker Spaniel

Resident from October 2006 - March 27, 2009
Baby Girl was one of the many Cockers who came to find her permanent home with Seven Blessings. During her time here she befriended many other pets as well as becoming one of the favorites of our volunteers. Her low key style and laid back approach to life here was her strongest asset. As all of our residents have some type of story, hers was one of severe tragedy. Her original owner was a victim of domestic violence. Due to her age, her fate was being sealed as a victim herself, premature death by ethunasia. Fortunately the Owner's estate manager found out about us and the rest of her life was spent here. As we downsized, Baby Girl became even a bigger part of Allen's and my life. She always slept in our bedroom and when we traveled to visit our children and grandchildren, she traveled with us. Baby Girl died of Kidney Failure on March 27, 2009. Her presence here will be sorely missed. We have been blessed to have cared for her during her illness. She was loved, petted and given that extra time that so many elderly pets need. Although her bed is empty here, she has been reunited with the one who first loved and cared for her.
