  • Natural aging.
  • Chronic illness

Moxie, a 14 yr old Serbian Husky, spent her final months here, she died peacfully 02/22/08...

On a personal note, Holly and I were

reminded recently, that as a society, we often search for ways to ‘soften’ the harshness of the environment around us by choosing our vocabulary wisely. This memory jog hit very close to home and cradles the sole purpose of Seven Blessings.

In her web site, Brenda Beck, President of ‘Pets & Animals in Distress’, addresses the act of euthanasia. A part of what she said was this:

…"Euthanasia defined:The act or method of causing death painlessly, so as to end suffering; to deal with those dying of incurable, painful diseases.’

It is derived from the Greek word eu, meaning good or well, and thanatos, meaning death. Thus euthanasia is a ‘good death’ to relieve suffering…" The entire article can be found at the ‘Pets & Animals in Distress’ web site. Give that some thought the next time you hear the word: ‘euthanasia’. Not pretty huh?

Yes, animal well being is at the root of what Seven Blessings is all about, but thoughtless ‘killing’ of beloved family pets is what we are passionate about preventing.

How about you ???

RESIDENT PLACEMENT FEE

For those Owners or current caregiver who have not planned ahead for placement of their pet with Seven Blessings, a resident placement fee of $350.00 (minimum base fee, actual fee could be higher based on pets health and age) per pet is requested upon acceptance of a qualified pet into the Seven Blessings family. The fee is used to help pay for the costs incurred toward assimilating the pet into its new surroundings which includes, but not limited too:

  • A baseline medical examination is required of all pets who qualify for residence at the Sanctuary. In addition to the standard check up of ear, nose and throat, a baseline of tests are taken that includes those that would determine if 'old age' diseases, ie, diabities, kidney malfunction may be present or iminent as well as other basic tests such as heartworm check.
  • The cost of food and supplies that each pet will need during its transistion into the Seven Blessings family.
  • The cost of grooming and bathing .
  • The cost of the pets' 'personal' items, such as collars, ID tags, beds and comfort items are equally important.

If the Owner or current caregiver is unable to provide the placement fee, alternative payment methods are discussed. A pet that has qualified for resident placement will not be turned away due to a financial hardship of its owner or current caregiver.
